Dental Exam
A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by Drs. Patel & Patel in conjuntion with our highly trained Hygienist for every new patient. At your initial dental visit, your initial oral examination will include; diagnostic x-rays, oral cancer screening/exam, visual examination of teeth and the gums, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis, and treatment recommendations.
- Full mouth x-ray (digital radiographs): X-ray of anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth for proper diagnosis of decay.
- Oral cancer screening: Check the face, neck, lymph nodes, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer. Learn more about ViziLite on our website or ask our Team.

Charting: Recording existing status of your teeth, fillings, crowns, etc.

Gum disease evaluation/Periodontal probing: Check and measure the gums and the supporting bone for any signs of infection.

Examination of tooth decay: All tooth surfaces will be checked for decay with special dental instruments.

Examination of existing restorations: Check current fillings, crowns, etc. for decay, fracture/cracks, leakage, and a thorough evaluation.

Diagnosis/Treatment Plan: Treatment options are present based on the patient's needs in order to maintain a pain-free, disease-free, healthy mouth.
Professional Dental Cleaning
Professional dental cleanings (Basic Adult Prophy) are usually performed by Registered Dental Hygienists. You should have a standard cleaning at least twice a year. Your cleaning appointment will include a dental exam, possible x-rays, and the following:
Periodontal Cleaning
If it has been over a year since your last cleaning, possible treatment can include Periodontal Scaling (deeper) and Root Planning (requires anesthetic) at which time you will be informed about the severity of your infection.
